Vidal, Joseph and Family Papers, 1797-1869 (bulk 1828-1862), 1.4 linear ft., 3 vols., Location: A:68-69, OS:V, Vault:1. Business and legal papers of Joseph (José) Vidal, secretary to Manuel Gayoso de Lemos, and Commandant of the Post of Concordia, in Spanish Louisiana. Also included are the papers of Vidal’s son-in-law, Samuel Davis, a planter, banker, and enslaver from Natchez, Mississippi, and the papers from Francis Surget and Dr. Robert Carter, who were related by marriage to the Vidal-Davis families.
