  • Gray, Lillie Trust. Papers, 1865-1920 (bulk 1886-1890). 178 items, 9 volumes. Location: U:154; F:9. Musician and teacher at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Convent, St. James Parish, Louisiana. Papers document Gray's teaching of and interest in music, and include a record book (1874-1900, 1902) containing lists of musical compositions and a diary (1900-1905) containing entries on music sung at Roman Catholic masses. Collection also includes household and farm entries; receipts for music lessons; and a payroll book (1865-1867) for Houmas Plantation.   • Great Southern Lumber Company. Collection, 1924-1938. 129 items, 2 printed vols. Location: UU:163, OS:G. Lumber company chartered in Pennsylvania in 1902, and owners of land, a sawmill, and other timber-related industries in Bogalusa, Washington Parish, Louisiana. William H. Sullivan was vice-president of the company (1905-1929) and mayor of Bogalusa. Collection contains photographs of buildings, machinery, and operations of the Great Southern Lumber Company and its subsidiary, the Bogalusa Paper Company; post cards; publications; and paper specimens. In a letter to his father in Saratoga County, New York, Caleb Green, Jr. announces the birth of his daughter, describes suffering a heat related illness and the use of bleeding as a medical treatment. Carpenter from Pennsylvania who moved to Alexandria, Rapides Parish, Louisiana, where he sought to establish ice and confectionery businesses in Louisiana. His mother, Henrietta and his brother, George lived in Pennsylvania. Letters from Green to his family concern his travel to Alexandria, wages paid to laborers, establishment of an ice business, his interest in a retail business, the unprofitability of the ice business, and his plans to establish a confectionery business.   • Green, Emile. Papers, 1909-1930. 3 items. Location: Misc. Emile Green of Opelousas, La., was an African-American local preacher in the Methodist Episcopal Church. These papers consist of a certificate renewing Green's local preacher's license (1909), Green's report to a Lake Charles District conference enumerating sermons preached and visits made (1918), and a letter from a relative in Angola, La.
