Vidalia, La., Dec. 11, 1864

Capt.

Mrs. Russels, who resides on the Tensas, came to my picket lines with a statement that three men — Joe Frees, Rool, and Seth[?] Brogan, formerly attached to Jones Scouts and now living about Lake Concordia — came to her house several nights since and plundered her house of clothing, etc. They also threatened to return with wagons and carry off the cotton on the plantation. These men have been plundering all along the Tensas, and I most respectfully request permission to arrest them and have the matter investigated before the provost marshal. Mrs. Russels is desirous of seeing the Genl. Commanding about this matter. She is now at the picket line with a lady friend who accompanied her.

I have the honor to be

Very respectfully,
