Sheryl Campbell: Usually after a football game, a home football game, they would have a band and a little party.
Melisse Campbell: What did you all wear to these parties and to the games?
S. Campbell: You know, you wore a nice skirt and a sweater that matched, if it was cool and . . . you know, you dressed decently. You didn’t wear slacks at all. No pants were allowed. But you dressed very nicely. Your colors matched. You washed your hair and set it. You know, you took precautions and pride in yourself and you looked nice. And homecoming was a little dressier. Homecoming called for a suit, heels, and a corsage; a big yellow pom-pom type chrysanthemum with streamers of purple and gold. And if your boyfriend was really neat, you would have one of those little gold medal footballs tied on your streamer [laughs]. You know, the more footballs you had on your streamers, the neater your date was.
