Melisse Campbell: It was a status to date a football player who was a star?

Sheryl Campbell: Oh, definitely; definitely. Yes.

M. Campbell: You know, that was important . . .

S. Campbell: Yes.

M. Campbell: . . . to be seen. Did you all hang out in the quad or . . . just seen walking across campus with them or . . . ?

S. Campbell: Well, you would see . . . You would know who they were, but they usually had girlfriends, you know, so . . . I don’t know that they hung out any particular place. One place I heard that they did go, and a lot of girls were trying to get into this class, was Ballroom Dancing. The football players used to take ballroom dancing. It was almost like a ballet and it was for them to learn to move agilely and slowly. It was to exercise their muscles in a different type of way from what they were used to at training.
