John Ferguson: Steve Franz, LSU Sports Information.

The number one game would be [the University of] Southern California game of 1979. LSU had a great team. Southern California had a great team. A lot of the fellows off both those teams went directly to professional football. The stadium was sold out, here, and it was an exciting thing. John Robinson was the coach at Southern California and Charlie McClendon was the coach at LSU. And as I said, they had . . . Both of them had great teams. There were two great teams on the field. That was an exciting time and it was, as I commented a lot of times -- in a day when people are falling all over themselves in a lot of ways to step on other people and get where they want and out-maneuver and out-finagle other people in a lot of ways -- for three hours that night, everybody was together. It was a moment. Not really pulling for one team or the other. They were just pulling for the game and excitement and the thrill of the moment. It was really . . . It was really a high point in all of the times I spent in Tiger Stadium.
