Unicorn Workflows 2003.1.4.5. User Search Change
As part of the upgrade, user records will be keyword indexed. Because additional search options are available, the user search window has changed. The name, user ID, alt ID, group ID, and current radio buttons are gone. They have been replaced with a drop-down menu that includes all of the available search options. There is a long list of search options. I will be renaming those that we do not use so that they drop to the bottom of the list. There are radio buttons for search and current.
You cannot browse with the new user search. It's all keyword searching. If you do a name search for Smith, you will get users with Smith as the last name, first name, and middle name. Using a single letter in a search will not work unless the user has an initial in their name. In keyword indexing, the whole word is indexed, not individual letters. You can use the truncation symbol $. Here are some examples from the online help:
Select Name in the User Search window, and enter Smith, J$ as the search text. The search results list is so large that Unicorn asks you to refine your search term.
Search again, using Smith, Joh$ as the search text. The results list is smaller, and includes the following matching records.
Johannason, David Smith
John, Lee Smith
Johnson, William Smith
Smith, John
[another 10 matches are listed for Smith, John]

Search a third time using Smith, John Whit$ as the search text, and the matching record list includes the following records.

All is not lost, there is a user browse helper that is really the old user search. You can use this when you want to browse for a name. There is no way to make this your default search. You have to click the helper.
