Should I use the iLink "Go Back" button or the browser's back button?
You should always use the iLink "Go Back" button. If you try to reset the search form after using the browser's back button, your previous search will be re-searched instead of the search form being cleared for a new search. If you follow a lot of hyperlinks and then use the browser's back button, iLink can lose track of its navigation.

What is a Service Desk?
A service desk can be a circulation desk or a reference desk. Patrons should seek assistance from the appropriate service desk. If they are unsure about which service desk is the appropriate one, they should go to the nearest service desk and ask for assistance.

How do I determine the volume holdings for a title?
Look at the holdings listed after the bibliographic description, not the list of separate volumes which only indicates barcoded items. The volume holdings will be listed by library and then by location within each library.

How do I search for LC call numbers?
You have two options:

  1. Try several call number searches (with and without spaces before decimals; with and without periods before first cutters). LC call numbers sort as follows:

    class number .decimal .cutterQA76 .76 .D47 J366 1997
    class number .decimal cutterQA76 .76 A65 A7 1997
    class number .cutterQA76 .C638 1982
    class number cutterQA76 C5474 1998
    class number.decimal .cutterQA76.76 .J38 G666 2001
    class number.decimal cutterQ76.76 C68 N67 1992

  2. Try a single call number search and use the next and previous buttons to find what you want

Why can't I find some reserve items in the online catalog?
Only items owned by the Libraries are searchable in the online catalog. All other items placed on reserve are shadowed and can only be searched through the Reserve Desk.

Why did I lose my marked items?
Marked items are lost whenever you click on New Search.

Why is there a difference in the number of items available and the total number of items in all locations?
The number of items available does not include items that are checked out or items that are in shadowed locations.
