LAN Server

LSU Libraries' LAN (local area network) consists of over 200 workstations on Ethernet connections. The LAN currently reaches Middleton Library and Hill Memorial Library.

LAN communications are via TCP/IP. Multiple server handles the bulk of access to local resourses, ITS servers handle all logons. All LAN files are backed up nightly.

Resources on Libraries Servers:
Applications: Cataloger's Desktop & Classification Plus, Data Import, Passport for Windows, WinSPIRS
Databases and Indexes:  Masterplots, Tiger Shrimp Diseases, Statistical Masterfile.
Network Drives: User Directories (G Drives), Share Drive (S Drive), Other Misc Shares
The resources listed above will be unavailable if the LAN goes down.

You can contact the LAN administrator (work: 8-9427, pager: 325-4492) about problems or questions with LAN resources, including: shared files, LAN-based applications, networked CD-ROM indexes and databases, and network printing. Supervisors can request a LAN sponsored account (or any other account) by filling out the New Staff Account Request Form. Please contact the help desk at (8-3375) for password problems.
