Virus Protection


All public and staff computers are protected by Symantec Antivirus. Daily scans and virus definition updates are controlled by the LAN administrator. This does not relieve you from your duty to be conscious about viruses. Following the tips given below will help prevent viruses from infecting your computer.

Recovery

If your computer becomes infected with a virus, contact Tom or Brian immediately. They will remove the virus and attempt to restore your data.

Tips

  • do not open any unexpected attachments, especially if you do not know the sender; if you know the sender, ask them if they sent the attachment
  • scan floppy disks given to you by others for viruses before opening any files
  • always backup your data
  • if you use a PC at home, protect it with an anti-virus program and Windows Updates
