- If you need a printer added and are unable to perform the steps below, contact Tom or Brian.
- You can install a shared network printer without waiting for Systems, and it's easy! A network printer is one that is connected to a computer which is sharing a printer. Examples are RICE, WARREN, LEE, etc listed in the Network Printers list below. In Windows XP, click Start > choose Printers and Faxes > click Add a Printer in the left frame > choose to connect to a network printer > in the box "Network printer, or a printer attached to another computer" type \\attached-computer-name\printer-name as the address to the shared printer. Reporting Problems
- Before reporting printer problems please check / try the following:
- is the paper tray empty?
- if printing to a networked printer, are you logged on to the LAN?
- have you tried printing a test page?
- is there an error message?
- When reporting printer problems provide the following information:
- name of printer, if networked
- printer model, if not networked
- error message, if any
- description of your problem (More specific than "My printer won't work.")
- Report problems to Tom or Chris.
