Requesting A Staff Account

A request for a staff web account or permissions to resources on the lan can be submitted via the New Staff Account Request Form. Please submit the request before the new staff member begins work. The LAN ID will be the person's PAWS ID, which is usually the first initial, part of the last name, and sometimes ending with numeral(s). Graduate/Student Assistant Accounts

Graduate assistants and student assistants are usually assigned generic LAN IDs, so the LAN Administrator is not constantly requesting accounts creation and deletion from the ITS Help Desk. If you have a new graduate assistant or student assistant in your area, give them the ID that was used by the person they are replacing. If you do not remember the password for that generic ID, the supervisor in whose name the account resides can change it in PAWS, Personal Preferences, Password Management.

If there are no generic IDs available for your department, submit a request via the New Staff Account Request Form. The IDs all start with LIB and will usually incorporate an abbreviation of a department name and a number (e.g., libcat, libhrr, etc.).

Access to Additional Networked Resources

If you or one of your employees do not have access to something on the LAN that you should, contact the LAN Administrator. Tell the LAN Administrator if access to the resource is based on something other than your department (e.g., you need member access to committee files). This will help ensure you get full access to all resources, rather than just one folder or file.
