Boyd; Major arrested "by campus authorities because of Reveille editorial; student life and activities at LSU; effects of WWI on the campus; his first car- a second-hand Ford; met wife in lower Lafourche Parish; student body demonstrated against reformer Cary Nation; student pranks; cadet training; new campus; Jim Broussard; teaching and students; believes in hard work; Thomas Boyd convinced Major to become a French instructor; graduate work at the University of Chicago in 1922 and 1923.
