Tape 24: Composes music for the LSU Alma Mater; new Alma Mater for the university was not immediately accepted; became bandmaster at LSU in 1925; Dr. Uhler, professor of English and composer of "To the Purple and Gold"; Men's Glee Club; begin teaching in the School of Music, 1929; 1930-37, member of the LSU faculty; state supervisor; music school remained on old campus after move; President Thomas Boyd devoted to the University; Dr. Henry W. Stopher promoted music on campus; few benefits for writing the Alma Mater.
