shot and buried by the Germans; finding barracks that had been set on fire with
bodies of soldiers in them; when he heard the war was over; coming home and
landing in New York City; removing wounded from front in the Herken Forest;
rebuilding roads after the end of the war; attending meetings with other World
War II veterans.
