Scope and Content Note

 

Sixty-six (66) nitrate negatives, 8” X 10”, taken between 1920 and 1930; sixty-five (65) 8”X 10” modern photographic prints printed by the photographic reproduction unit of LSU Libraries – Special Collections, 2002. The advanced state of decay of one of the negatives (176223b – Queen and Crescent Building) made it unprintable. The majority of the images document New Orleans office building architecture, urban public spaces, and boats on the river near Girot Street pier. A minority of the images documents private residences and United Fruit Company pier-side operations.

Series I. Nitrate negatives, ca.1900-1930 (bulk 1925-1930).

 

The majority of the images document New Orleans office building architecture, urban public spaces, and boats on the river near Girot Street pier. A minority of the images documents private residences and United Fruit Company pier-side operations. These modern black and white photographic prints (2002) were printed from the original glass plate negatives.
