Prolifers for Survival was founded by Juli Loesch in 1979 to promote discussion between the pro-life movement and the peace movement. Its members printed and distributed a newsletter and numerous brochures on abortion and nuclear arms, worked to promote grassroots awareness of the issues, and held national conferences from 1981 through 1986. At its height Prolifers for Survival had 3000 members through the United States and in affiliate organizations in Australia, West German, Canada, England, and Italy. Group members and leadership regularly lead workshops and distributed literature at National Right to Life conventions. The organization disbanded in May 1987, passing much of its work on to Justlife, founded in 1986, and the Seamless Garment Network Clearinghouse.
The Prolifers for Survival Records documents the administration and activities of a pro-life and anti-nuclear proliferation activist organization. It includes financial documents, correspondence, and copies of the group newspaper, P.S. The collection features writing and press coverage of organization founder Juli Loesch and her involvement in the international peace and pro-life movements. The records also include materials from the organization’s annual conferences, newsletters, brochures, photographs, audio-visual materials, and an oral history interview with group coordinators Scott Rains and Patricia Narciso.
