Wayne Binning was a professor of history at the University of Mississippi.
Collection is comprised mostly of images of military and civilian personages; among them are clergymen, diplomats, abolitionists, actors, educators, royalty, and politicians. Included are Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses Grant, Jefferson Davis, General Benjamin Butler, John Wilkes Booth, and General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. Miscellaneous papers (1830-1896) relate to the Florida territorial period, the first railroads in Florida, shipping, and transportation of the insane.
