Clarence A. Ives (1869-1966), an educator of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was dean of the Louisiana State University College of Education, and president of the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. He was associated with Clarence C. Henson, an educator from New Orleans.
The collection consists largely of records of the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools (1918-1945). Included are copies of addresses and speeches in which Ives expresses his views on education and curricula in Southern schools. Correspondence (1951-1963) includes letters from Ives' associates in the field of education, including Clarence C. Henson.
Newspapers articles and essays include historical writings on Louisiana, Jackson Parish, the town of Vernon, Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Zion Baptist Church, and Zion Rest Baptist Church. Ives' "Essays on Public Issues" is included.
