SUMMARY

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL NOTE

Mr. Maby Desmontis lived in New Orleans during the late eighteenth century and was probably an agent or trader.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

Letter (in French) dated 1792 from Orrillard of Nantes, France, to Mr. Maby Desmontis in the care of Messrs. Segond, father and son, New Orleans. He gives instructions for a shipment of pelts, goats, indigo, wood for dye, rice, and cotton from New Orleans directly to France. The letter also comments on political and military events in Europe at the time.
