Committee Structure and Functions
I. Standing Committees
A. Committee Establishment and Chairships
1. Fellowship, Membership, Elections, and Program Committees
are considered Standing Committees of
Division
40.
2. Chairs for the Fellowship, Membership and Program Committees
will be appointed according to terms
specified in the bylaws by the Division 40 President in consultation
with the Executive Committee. The Chair
of the Elections Committee is the Past-President. All terms will
begin at the end of the Annual Business
Meeting of Division 40.
3. A budget will be prepared/approved for each Standing Committee.

B. Division 40 Standing Committees and Purposes
1. Fellowship Committee
a. The Fellowship Committee will consist of three Fellows
appointed by the President in consultation with
the Executive Committee.
b. The Chair of the Committee will be selected from among
the Committee members, by the President in
consultation with the Executive Committee, and will serve
for a three-year term.
c. The Duties of the Fellowship Committee are as follows:
-
to receive all recommendations for Fellowship,
-
to collect and consider all supporting materials
as needed, and
-
to make nominations for Fellowship status
in Division 40 in accordance with Division 40 and APA bylaws.
d. The Chair of the Committee will make the official report
as to the election of new Fellows at the Division
40 Annual Business Meeting each August.
e. The Chair, in conjunction with the Division 40 Newsletter
Editor, will prepare a list of new Fellows for
publication in Newsletter 40.
2. Membership Committee
a. The Membership Committee will consist of a Chair, appointed
by the extant President, in consultation
with the Executive Committee, who shall serve for a three-year
term. Up to two additional members may
be added with annual appointment by the President.
b. The duties of the Membership Committee are as follows:
-
to secure and review evidence conceming
the qualifications of all candidates for Division 40 Membership,
-
to review requests for changes in Division
40 Membership status, and
-
to keep the Division 40 Membership up-to-date
and available for publication in Newsletter 40.
c. The Chair of the Committee will make the official report
of nomination for Membership at the Division 40
Annual Business Meeting each August for final action.
3. Elections Committee
a. The Elections Committee will consist of the Past President
as Chair and two Past Division 40 Presidents,
recommended by the Chair and appointed by the President.
b. The Elections Committee will secure nominations, by
mail ballot, from the voting Members. An official
Call for Nominations ballot will be mailed to all eligible
Division 40 members from the office of the
Secretary. Members will have one month in which to retum
the ballot. Nominations must be made using
the official ballot; all others will not be used in counting
the final tallies no faxes, e-mail submissions or
other submissions will be accepted. The instructions xviii
appear on the call. (See appendix tbr sample) i2
c. All Fellow ‘s or Members receiving nominations for
an office from 1% or more of the Membership at the
time of the Call for Nominations (with any fractions rounded
down to the next whole percent) will be
included on the ballot. Nominees must be willing to serve
and qualified in accordance with Division 40
Bylaws and
