especially since psychology seems to be going toward the medical school
model in order to obtain parity under federal laws. That is not to say
that there will not be specialization or tracks within doctoral programs
but that the professional doctoral program is likely to be generic. The
internship would be similarly generic, with specialization within it possible
also. Generic programs were said to be necessary in order to develop a
coherent set of licensing laws. This would also facilitate the development
of reciprocity for licensing across states and provinces.
The complexities involved in trying to get neuropsychology representation
on the CoA were discussed. It was suggested that one way to do this would
be to educate the chairs of graduate departments of psychology concerning
the need for neuropsychology representation so that they might recommend
a chair who is a neuropsychologist as one of the COGDOP representatives
to the CoA. Another way of doing this is to form some sort of coalition
that recommends neuropsychology representation in the CoA. At this point
the Houston Conference was officially brought to a close.
