     d. The Elections Chair will contact potential nominees to assure their willingness to serve if elected and to
     secure written permission for the usual and customary background checks.
     e. All potential nominees will be required to sign a statement indicating adherence to ethical and legal
     standards and verifying that they have not been subject to adjudication or disciplinary action in that
     regard. 14
   f .  The Elections Chair may make background checks on nominees. These checks may include, but not be
   limited to the following:
  *govemmental bodies * national professional/scientific associations
  * courts                     * state professional/scientific association
  * licensing boards       * colleagues
  * state psychological associations
     g. Ballots must include all nominees from the Membership who are in good legal, ethical, and professional
     standing and may include additional nominees from the Elections Committee who are of the same
     standing.
     h. Two candidates must be offered for election for each office. 15
     i. The list of nominees will be reported to the APA Central Office by the Secretary for inclusion in the
     Election ballot issued by the APA at a date specified by the APA.
     j. Nominees will be asked to prepare statements, which will be mailed to all voting Division 40 members
     prior to election. 16
     k. Upon receiving the results of the Elections, the Secretary will inform the Chair of the Elections
     Committee. All candidates will be notified of the results. After all candidates have been notified, results
     will be posted on the Division 40 webpage. Results will include the actual vote tallies for all races.
     l All members of the Executive Committee shall have a budget for their office, as approved by the
     Treasurer. 17

A. Committee Establishment & Chairships
    1. Continuing Committees are established by special action of the Executive Committee and are intended to
    remain functional, just as a Standing Committee, unless special action is taken by the Executive Committee
    to dissolve them.
   2. The term of Chair of a Continuing Committee will be for a three-year period.
   3. The Division 40 President, with the consultation of the Executive Committee, will appoint all Chairs.
   4. A budget will be established/approved for each Continuing Committee. 18
B. Division 40 Continuing Committees & Purposes
   1.    Science Advisory Committee
      a. Two (2) new student awards will be given beginning the 1999 APA Convention. They are as followed:
