        DIVISION 40 PUBLIC INTEREST GOALS AND STRATEGIES

                             Goal 1

Educate, using consumer-friendly terms, the general public, health care and legal professions about
clinical neuropsychological practice and underlying ethical principles

                   Goal 1 Specific Strategies

*  Develop educational, informative pamphlets for consumers/patients
*  Develop educational, informative pamphlets for other professionals
*  Liaison with APA Public Interest Directorate and other consumer agencies (ex. Alzheimer?s
     Foundation, National Head Injury Foundation)

                             Goal 2

Advocate for prevention and public health issues pertinent to clinical neuropsychology

                   Goal 2 Specific Strategies

*  Liaison with public health organizations and other relevant APA Divisions (e.g., Division 38) on issues
     of interests to clinical neuropsychology regarding prevention and health (ex. stroke prevention,
     highway safety programs)
*  Encourage clinical neuropsychological research in related public health and prevention areas

                             Goal 3

Increase exposure and knowledge of neuroscience curriculum in secondary schools and undergraduate
psychology programs

                   Goal 3 Specific Strategies

*  Join the Consortium for Neuroscience Education
*  Develop an outline for a model high school level course in clinical neuropsychology and clinical
     neuroscience
*  work in collaboration with APA efforts to teach psychology in secondary schools and undergraduate
     psychology program
 *Work with state psychological associations to develop presentations pertaining to career in psychology
     for possible presentation at local pre-college fairs
