                             Goal 4

Obtain acceptance of clinical neuropsychological services by third party payers

                   Goal 4 Specific Strategies

     *  Form “alliances” with other health service providers to advocate for neuropsychological inclusion in Health
     Care Reform
     *  Engage in inter-organizational CPT Code advocacy efforts (e.g., join with the National Academy of
     Neuropsychology in working cooperatively with APA?s Central Office for CPT Code advocacy efforts)
     *  Work with APA Practice Directorate and other related agencies/organizations to expand the role of
     neuropsychologists within National Health Care Reform movements
     *  Educate Division 40 members regarding legislative developments of importance for neuropsychologists within
     National Health Care reform and CPT code utilization through informational articles in Division
     Newsletter, appropriate sessions at convention meetings, etc
     *  Continue to progressively update the definition and the scope of neuropsychological practice as well as criteria
     used to establish qualifications to perform neuropsychological services

                             Goal 5

Encourage the continued development of practice standards and measurement of adherence to standards to assist
regulatory agencies and credentialing boards in an educational/supportive role

                   Goal 5 Specific Strategies

     *  Continue to develop guidelines for neuropsychological training and practice as needed, and offer education
     regarding such guidelines to state psychological associations, state regulatory agencies, voluntary
     credentialing boards and professional agencies
     *  Develop a system of representatives to network with each state?s regulatory boards and state psychological
     associations to provide education and advice regarding clinical neuropsychological training and practice
     standards

                             Goal 6

Advocate in the workplace for neuropsychology positions

                   Goal 6 Specific Strategies

*  To preserve neuropsychology positions within the VA system enlist support of Congressional members
     “friendly” to psychology and neuropsychology
*  Enlist help of interested agencies, such as APPIC, in efforts to preserve positions
