Text of Letter:
AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION -
September 1, 1995
Dear Colleague: Enclosed you will find the draft of the Guidelines and Principles for Accreditation of Postdoctoral Programs.' With this mailing, we begin our period of review and public comment on the substance of this document. The Guidelines and Principles for Accreditation of Postdoctoral Programs were developed over the past two years as a joint effort of the Committee on Accreditation (CoA) and Interorganizational Council for Accreditation of Postdoctoral Programs (IOC). The documents draw heavily on the previous work of the IOC, the previous work of the Committee on Accreditation (Guidelines and Principles for Accreditation of Doctoral and Internship Programs) as well as the document produced by the Ann Arbor Conference (National Conference on Postdoctoral Training in Professional Psychology).
Because we want to provide ample opportunity for public discussion of this document, we are extending the time for review past the usual six month period. This will allow for discussion at constituent group's mid-winter meetings. The deadline for closure of our public comment period will be April 15, 1996. Please forward your comments to the Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation, 750 First Street, NE, Washington, DC 200024242.
Sincerely,
Deborah C. Beidel, Ph.D.*
