SUBJ: Revised DRAFT Principles and Petitions for the Recognition of Specialties and Proficiencies in Psychology
Attached please find the latest revised draft documents prepared by the Joint Interim Committee on Identification and Recognition of Specialties and Proficiencies. A draft statement of Principles for the Recognition of Specialties in Psychology” (June 27, 1994) as well as a draft statement of Principles for the Recognition of Proficiencies in Psychology” are forwarded for your review and comment. Both of these documents have been revised to incorporate the many valuable comments received by the Joint Interim Committee as a result of the previous two distributions of earlier drafts of these documents.
We are also forwarding for your feedback draft petition forms and procedures for the recognition of both specialties and proficiencies which were developed at the June 25-27, 1994 meeting. Given that part of the charge to the Joint Interim Committee includes the development of a recognition process and a pilot testing component to evaluate that process, the draft petition forms are now in circulation as part of the first round of pilot testing. Please forward your comments on the enclosed documents by September 15th to the attention of the Joint Interim Committee on Identification and Recognition of Specialties and Proficiencies, c/o the Education Directorate, American Psychological Association, 750 First Street, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20002-4242.
