Pawtucket, RI 02860

Dear Dr. Marcotte:

I am writing to you in your capacity as Secretary of the Division of Clinical Neuropsychology (40) to extend an invitation to the Division to become a charter 'Institutional' member of the Friends of the Archives of the History of American Psychology.

In February 1994,a mailing went out to a selected list of APA members inviting them to become a Friend of the Archives. Attached are the items in that mailing: a copy of our general brochure, a Financial Information Sheet,a letter of invitation, and a contribution card:

The Friends gained 185 members and contributions of more than $15,000 - about $80 per person average. This fund is already at work paying two student assistants who are being supervised in the preparation, for long term storage,of 1200 cartons of editorial papers of 40 different psychological journals. These documents are not to be opened for scholarly use for 40-50 years, but their preservation demands care at this time. This important work will probably require a year.

The Midwestern Psychological Association and the Eastern Psychological Association have spontaneously given to the Friends fund, $200 and $500, respectively. Other 'Institutional' donors - before 1993 - are listed on the Financial Information Sheet.

I hope that this invitation can be placed on your agenda for consideration at the next Executive Committee and Business Meetings and that The Division of Neuropsychology (40) will elect to become an 'Institutional' member of the Friends of the Archives of the History of American Psychology.

Sincerely,

John A. Popplestone, Ph.D.
