Division 40 Education Committee
Date: February 14, 1996
Place: Chicago Hilton Hotel
Present: Crosson (Chair), Cimino, DeLuca , Hammeke, Holliday, Koffler
Absent: Mateer
The first meeting of the Division 40 Education Committee was called to order by the chair, Dr. Crosson . The following agenda items were discussed:
1. Introductions amongst committee members were made.
2. The tasks of the Education Committee as outlined in the Division 40 Planning Document were discussed. Some discussion ensued regarding the formation of the Association for Doctoral Education in Clinical Neuropsychology, and the possibility they would revise guidelines for doctoral education .Members agreed that if this was done in collaboration with the Education Committee, that the Committee could forward new guidelines to the Division 40 Executive Committee for consideration and endorsement, barring any major problems. The Committee agreed that this option would be explored and that trying to catalyze some collaboration between ADECN and APPCN in the process would be a good , idea. Indeed, it was suggested that we might discuss with APPCN revising the post-doctoral guidelines in a similar fashion .Further, the possibility of getting an internship group together to address guidelines or other issues was discussed.
The need to initiate a collaborative relationship with the Education Directorate was also discussed. The idea of a Committee member traveling to APA headquarters to visit with members of the APA Education Directorate was discussed.
3. It was noted that the Education Committee has a $3000 budget. It was decided that we could pay $200 of travel expenses for each member of the committee to defray some of the costs of attending the Toronto meeting. Some discussion occurred regarding using the remainder of the money for a Committee member to visit APA's Education Directorate.
4. A meeting time for Toronto was set : Friday, August 9, from 8:30 am to l0:30 am.
The meeting was adjourned.
