DIVISION OF CLINICAL NEUROPSYCHOLOGY (40)

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING

August 24, 1982 - Washington, D.C.

The minutes of the prior meetings (August 24, 1981 and February 4, 1982) were approved.

Dr. Costa provided an update on the legislative activity of AAP.

The minutes of the Pittsburgh meeting did not mention the formation of a division committee on the legislative concerns. Stanley Berent, Murial Lezak and Steven Mattis will serve on this committee.

ELECTIONS COMMITTEE - DR. GOODGLASS

It was announced that Thomas Boll is the president-elect and that Kenneth Adams was elected as member-at-large on the executive committee.

The Division offices roster is as follows:

President: Nelson Butters

Past-President: Louis Costa

President-Elect: Thomas Boll

Secretary: Gerald Goldstein

Treasurer: Larry Squire

Members-at-large: Kenneth Adams, Edith Kaplan, Charles Matthews

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

The Division now has 1,289 members and 319 Associates. Future efforts to recruit additional members,including the sending out of a mailing were discussed.

TREASURER'S REPORT

Dr. Squire did not attend the meeting and a formal report was not submitted. The Committee discussed various methods of handling Division accounts, and the Treasurer was asked to provide a full financial report at the next meeting. The Committee established a tentative budget for the coming year as follows. Newsletter $1,000, Task Force on Education and Credentialing $1,000, Secretary $500, President $2500, Membership Committee $200, Program Committee $200, Fellows Committee $1000. It was reported that the Division balance as of July, 1982 was $8,314.50.

FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE - DR BOLL

The Division Currently has 26 fellows. New fellows are Carl Dodrill, Harvey Levin and Otfried Spreen.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE - DR. PARSONS

Oscar Parsons reported that the program appeared to be successful and attendance was good. Twenty five papers were presented as six sessions. There were 34 poster presentations, seven symposia, two invited addresses (Aaron Smith and Martha Denckla) and a presidential address/business meeting. Approximately 60% of submissions were accepted.

Next years program committee will consist Harvey Levin, Robert Heaton, Kathy Haaland and of Linas Bieliauskas (Chair), Robert Wilson.

SECRETARY AND NEWSLETTER

Dr. Goldstein provided a preliminary report of the newsletter survey. There was some discussion of the newsletter,the general opinion being that there be two issues a year,one ofter the APA and one at about INS time. Gerald Goldstein and Ralph Tarter will continue as newsletter editors.

DESIGNATION OF NEW COMMITTEES AND LIAISON ASSIGNMENTS

The new program committee was listed above. The new membership committee consists of Jeffrey Barth (Chair), Dean Delis, Gordon Chelune and Robert Bornstein. The new fellowship committee consists of Joseph Matarazzo (Chair), Oscar Parsons, Harold Goodglass and Otfried Spreen.

Manfreid Meier was designated as liaison to the APA Office of Professional Affairs and the American Board of Professional Psychology, Inc. Louis Costa will be chair of the elections committee. Alfonso Campbell is liaison to APA's office of ethnic minority affairs. Roberta White is liaison to APA's office of women's affairs. Manfred Meier is liaison to the INS/Division 40 Task Force on Education,Accredidation and Credentialing.

COUNCIL OF REPRESENTATIVES - MANFRED MEIER

A brief report was given on council activities, the major topic being a survey APA was planning of third party payment. It was ascertained that the Division was quite close to obtaining two Council seats, and it was determined that a major effort would be made to achieve that goal during the coming year.

OTHER BUSINESS

Time constraints did not permit the committee to complete all of its business. It was therefore determined that an additional meeting will be held in Mexico City in conjunction with the INS. That meeting will be held at the Fiesta Palace Hotel on Tuesday February 1, beginning at 9:30 AM. in Nelson Butters' suite.

The meeting was adjourned at 6 PM.
