League of Women Voters A multi-issue organization whose mission is to encourage the informed and active participation of citizens in government and to influence public policy through education and advocacy. National Federation of Republican Women National Women's Political Caucus A national, grassroots organization dedicated to increasing the number of women in elected and appointed office at all levels of government, regardless of party affiliation. NOW: National Organization of Women Women Leaders Online/Women Organizing for Change This is the first Internet-based women's advocacy group. Includes alerts, back issues of Political Woman Hotline, and links to other internet resources. Back to Contents Research Centers Center for the American Woman and Politics "The Center for the American Woman and Politics (CAWP) is a university-based research, education and public service center. Its mission is to promote greater understanding and knowledge about women's relationship to politics and government and to enhance women's influence and leadership in public life." Included at this site are numberous reports and fact sheets on the state of women in politics. Also included is information on the Young Women's Leadership Initiative. Institute for Women's Policy Research Located in Washington, DC, this research organization has information available regarding public policy issues affecting women. Of particular interest is the status of women in the states.
