    This site contains materials on ongoing advocacy activities of the African National Congress, including their yearly conference and the activities of their regional and provincial offices throughout South Africa. The publication and documents section includes the African National Congress weekly newsletter and their annual reports. The historical document section holds seminal documents and papers germane to the historical development of the Congress, along with the speeches and writings of its presidents, who include Chief Albert J. Lutuli and Nelson Mandela.

    Site from University of Pennsylvania African Studies Center contains exhaustive annotated web links and is arranged by country. Subject approach ranges from economics and agriculture to population studies and wildlife.

  • South Africa Truth and Reconciliation Commission

    A nonprofit, nonpartisan institution that conducts advanced research on policy-relevant issues in Asia. Provides scholarly articles and analyses on Asian culture, politics, and economics.
  • US-China Security Review Commission
    The purpose of the Commission is to study, investigate, assess and report to Congress on the economic and security implications of the bilateral economic relationship between the United States and the People's Republic of China.

  • CAIN Web Service
    Conflict Archive on the Internet provides information and source material on the conflict in Northern Ireland from 1968 to the present.
  • Central Europe Online
    English-language news on Central Europe is updated daily. Archives go back two weeks. Countries of coverage include Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
  • ECLAS: European Commission Libraries Catalogue
    This database, made available by the European Union, consists of about 200,000 completed catalogue records in the domain of European affairs. About 7,000 new records are added annually. ECLAS also catalogues internet resources in the broad area of European integration (over 5000 references) and provides Internet pathfinders.
  • Hansard - House of Commons Debates (UK)
    This site contains daily oral and written debates heard in the House of Commons in the United Kingdom.
  • Hansard - House of Lords Debates (UK)
    This site contains the full uncorrected text of the House of Lords daily debates.
  • International Relations and Security Network (ISN)
    Find a wide array of information on issues relating to international relations and security studies. The ISN's goal is to link research institutions, governments, parliaments, NGO's, international organizations, and individuals in the pursuit of international relations and security studies.
  • Official Documents from the Stationery Office: UK
    Find official UK government documents on this site, arranged by date, title, and department.
  • Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE)
    The OSCE is a part of the United Nations that includes 55 countries. Their relations are based on peaceful co-existence and democratic values. They say they are "an organization with a comprehensive approach to security and peace, which are to be based on military confidence, economic development, social justice, democracy, and the rule of law, as well as on respect for human rights and the protection of minorities."

  • Castro Speech Database
    Castro Speech is a database containing the full text of English translations of speeches, interviews, and press conferences by Fidel Castro, based upon the records of the Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS), a U.S. government agency responsible for monitoring broadcast and print media in countries throughout the world. These records are in the public domain.
  • Latin American and Caribbean Government Documents Project
    This site is a useful pointer to the Latin American documents available on the Web. The site is arranged by subject and country. Subjects include statistical sources, executive documents, national legislative documents, national judicial documents, and subnational documents. Many sites pointers are to Spanish or Portuguese language sites.
  • Latin American Network Information Center
  • National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade
    Created in 1992, the Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit research and educational institution which seeks to develop the legal infrastructure necessary to facilitate the movement of goods, services and investment capital in the Western Hemisphere. The Center conducts comparative legal and transactional studies of the disparate laws, practices and attitudes among countries of the Western Hemisphere desiring to participate in a free trade area. Access the InterAm Database, the online legal source for Latin American legal materials.
  • Political Database of the Americas
    This multilingual site is a collaboration of Georgetown University's Center for Latin American Studies and the Organization of American States. A comprehensive source of documentary and statistical political information.

  • Arab Human Development Report
    A report that outlines the current state of human development and its future potential throughout the Arab world. This report was written and researched by a team of regional experts working under the auspices of the United Nations Development Programme.
  • ArabNet
    Government information includes summaries of the national structure, foreign policy, education, health, and the military. Primarily deals with countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
  • The Middle East North Africa Internet Resource Guide
    Comprehensive guide to Internet resources for the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia. Resources are arranged by country and by academic discipline.

World Affairs
  • Chiefs of State and Cabinet Members of Foreign Governments
    Choose the country of interest and receive a list of all its top officials.
  • Department of State Country Reports on Human Rights Practices
    These reports contain information on each country's human rights records. Countries that receive assistance from the US are listed as well as other foreign countries. These reports are mandated by Congress and are distributed annually. For reports from 1993-1999, visit the Archive Site for the Department of State.
  • Foreign Governments
    Northwestern University has provided a list of links to foreign government home pages, from Andorra to the Vatican City. This list is not comprehensive as of yet, but they promise that future revisions will incorporate suggestions and more links.
  • G8 Information Centre at the University of Toronto
    Proceedings from the 2003 G8 confrence and substantial documents from the 2002 G7 gathering are available in several languages, including English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Russian.
  • Globalization, Multilevel Governance and Democracy: Continental, Comparative and Global Perspectives

  • United Nations DHL Reference Guides
    Included on this site are bibliographies of books relating to UN Reform, the UN Security Council, the UN Charter, Peace-Keeping Operations, and a guide to major UN conferences. The bibliographies include books published by a variety of publishers, not just the UN.
  • United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
    The UN HCR gives basic information about refugees by country. Also offers pictures, press releases, articles, secondary teachers' guides, back issues of Refugees magazine, and official documents of the UNHCR.
  • United Nations Security Council Resolutions
    This is a searchable database of United Nations Security Council resolutions from 1994 forward. The full text of documents from 1974 to 1993 is available only by date in a gopher menu.
  • United Nations University
    "The United Nations University (UNU) is an international academic organization that undertakes research, postgraduate training and dissemination activities to promote the United Nations aim's of peace and progress." The UNU does not offer degrees or have a campus, but rather offers workshops and offers fellowships for research. See their joint project with the University of Ulster, INCORE Internet Country Guides from the Initiative on Conflict Resolution and Ethnicity.
  • U.S. Committee for Refugees
    News and information on refugees.
  • U.S. Department of State's Background Notes
    The Department of State's Background Notes offer a brief look at each country in the world, focusing on government, people, and the economy of each country. An easy place from which to get a quick overview of a particular country.
  • U.S. Foreign Policy Agenda
    An electronic journal of the United States Information Agency
  • U.S. Institute of Peace
    "An independent, nonpartisan federal institution created and funded by Congress to strengthen the nation's capacity to promote the peaceful resolution of international conflict."
  • Voting Practices in the United Nations
    U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Organization Affairs annually publishes a report that statistically measures the voting of UN member states. Editions of this publication from 2000 to the present are available online.
  • War, Peace, and Security World Wide Web Server
    This meta-site links to information on armed forces of the world, international relations, peace and disarmament, military science, contemporary conflicts, international organizations, journals, and more.
  • World Development Reports
    The World Bank's annual World Development Report details the current economic, social, and environmental state of the world. Each year the World Development Report provides in depth analysis of a specific aspect of development.
  • World Factbook
    This site offers a quick overview of each country in the world. Included are maps, flags, geographic, population, government, economic, transportation, communication, and defense information. It is possible to download the entire book.
