  • American Memory
    "American Memory consists of primary source and archival materials relating to American culture and history. These historical collections are the key contribution of the Library of Congress to the National Digital Library. Most of these offerings are from the Library's unparalleled special collections." Includes such collections as the Presidential Portraits and Votes for Women.
  • The American Presidency Project
    The American Presidency Project at UC Santa Barbara, Department of Political Science provides the text of the Public Papers of the Presidents from 1929-1992/93. This site also has Inaugural Addresses, State of the Union address, National Political Party Platforms (back to 1840), and the text of Franklin Roosevelt's Fireside Chats.
  • American Political Development
    A collaborative venture between the Miller Center for Public Affairs' American Political Development Program and the scholars of the American Political History Initiative, this site is for scholars of American political development, "the interdisciplinary study of the deep historical roots of politics in the United States."
  • Constitution of the United States of America
    This is a searchable site of the full text of the Constitution and analysis and interpretations of the Constitution in the form of annotations of cases decided by the Supreme Court of the United States.
  • History and Politics Out Loud
    A searchable archive of politically significant audio materials for scholars, teachers, and students. Funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities in partnership with Michigan State University. You will need either Real Player or QuickTime Player.
  • JFK Executive Orders Online
    Retrieve the full text of any of the 214 executive orders issued by President John F. Kennedy during his time in office. Arranged by date, keyword, number, and title.
  • Joint Center for Poverty Research
    The Northwestern University/University of Chicago Joint Center for Poverty Research "supports academic research that examines what it means to be poor and live in America." Includes papers from the 1998 Welfare Reform and Macro-Economy Conference.
  • The Oyez Project
    The OYEZ Project contains many hundreds of hours of audio materials, dozens of panoramic images of the Supreme Court Building, and abstracts and other materials for leading cases in constitutional law decided by the Supreme Court of the United States. The OYEZ Project aims to include all leading constitutional law cases into their database.
  • The Political Graveyard
    Looking for information on where that former senator of yours is buried? Trying to find out if a politician is dead? Look no further than the Political Graveyard, a U.S.-oriented site of dead politicians and the cemeteries they are buried in. Follow the "Finding People" link.

  • Campaign Finance Reform
    The Brookings Institution has a working group on campaign finance reform. This site offers links to the information they use and have created, including a highly useful book available in .pdf (392 pages)called Campaign Finance Reform: A Sourcebook.
  • The Hill
    This online newspaper is the paper to read about Congress and the legislative workings of the U.S. federal government. The online version only has selected articles, but is still a timely and complete news source.
  • Roll Call Online
    Roll Call has been the newspaper of Capitol Hill since 1955. Get news scoops, commentary, and policy briefings, as well as find out information on your state's representatives.
