    Current edition is kept at the Middleton reference desk. This resource is also available online at http://purl.access.gpo.gov/GPO/LPS552. The World Fact Book is prepared by the Central Intelligence Agency for the use of US government officials and has a section of country profiles. Provides demographics, economic information, military statistics, and transnational issues.

    This resources from the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress presents a description and analysis of the historical setting and the social, economic, political, and national security systems and institutions of countries throughout the world and examines the interrelationships of those systems and the ways they are shaped by cultural factors

  • Foreign Government Resources on the Web
    University of Michigan Documents Center has an excellent array of resources for information on foreign governments.
  • Guide to Country Information in International Governmental Organization Publications
    Call number: G 123 A11 G85 1996
    Shelved on Reference Table 4. An annotated bibliography created by the American Library Association's Government Documents Roundtable this resource lists principal series of publications and selected books with useful information on countries.
  • Handbook of International Economic Statistics

  • The Military Balance
    Call number: UA 15 L65
    Current volume is kept in Middleton reference. An excellent resource for military information.
  • The Stateman's Yearbook
    Call number: JA 51 S7
    Current volume is kept at the Middleton reference desk.
  • STAT-USA
    GLOBUS and National Trade Data Bank (NTDB) are two modules of STAT-USA that provide current and historical trade-related releases, intenrational market research, trade opportunities, country analyses, and much more. Access is limited to on-campus.

  • Encyclopedia of the United Nations
    Call number: JX 1977 O8213 1990
    Shelved on third floor of Middleton Library. A good place for brief information on the United Nations, its branches, and international treaties and incidents. It includes many citations at the end of the articles to UN documents.
  • Everyone's United Nations
    Call number: OPE/UN/E/
    Shelved in Government Documents Department, basement of Middleton Library. These editions concisely summarize major events in the United Nations' history. The researcher is given the forum (e.g. Security Council, General Assembly) before which and the year(s) during which the matter was discussed.
  • Index to Proceedings of...
    These highly specialized indexes are produced annually/sessionally and are comprehensive, including citations to every documents relating to the organization's consideration of the topic. Shelved in Government Documents Department, basement of Middleton Library.

    Catalogue of UN publications and documentation indexed by the United Nations Dag Hammarskjöd Library and the Library of the UN Office at Geneva. Also search voting records of the General Assembly from its 38th session (1983) onward and the voting records of the Security Council beginning with its first year (1946). UNBISnet also indexes speeches made in the General Assembly and the Security Council beginning with 1983.
