Geospatial Electronic Airport Obstruction Chart (eAOC)
More Information
The eAOC is a collection of geospatial data that has been determined to be relevant to air transportation on and near airports. Several techniques are used in obtaining these data, including ground survey, remote sensing , manual entry or calculated values. The types of information typically collected consist of reference data including runway and navaid information, data relating to imaginary surfaces that define safe altitudes for approaches and landings (Obstruction Identification Surfaces or OIS as specified in the FAA’s Federal Aviation Regulations Part 77) including obstacle and obstructing areas, layout of an airport including aircraft movement areas, and features found at and near an airport of landmark value.

The USGS has a well-deserved reputation for the collection, interpretation, and distribution of geologic, hydrologic, cartographic, and biologic data. Although the Bureau's mission is primarily domestic in focus, many of the datasets we develop are global. These include the recently released Global Digital Elevation Model (DEM), a wide variety of remotely sensed products, data on world oil, gas, coal, and mineral deposits, biodiversity, and geologic hazards (earthquakes, volcanoes, and landslides).
