Center for Spatially Integrated Social Science (CSISS)
More Information
CSISS recognizes the growing significance of space, spatiality, location, and place in social science research. It seeks to develop unrestricted access to tools and perspectives that will advance the spatial analytic capabilities of researchers throughout the social sciences. CSISS was funded in 1999 with support from the National Science Foundation under its program to promote research infrastructure in the social and behavioral sciences.

Geospatial Electronic Airport Obstruction Chart (eAOC)
More Information
The eAOC is a collection of geospatial data that has been determined to be relevant to air transportation on and near airports. Several techniques are used in obtaining these data, including ground survey, remote sensing , manual entry or calculated values. The types of information typically collected consist of reference data including runway and navaid information, data relating to imaginary surfaces that define safe altitudes for approaches and landings (Obstruction Identification Surfaces or OIS as specified in the FAA’s Federal Aviation Regulations Part 77) including obstacle and obstructing areas, layout of an airport including aircraft movement areas, and features found at and near an airport of landmark value.

The USGS has a well-deserved reputation for the collection, interpretation, and distribution of geologic, hydrologic, cartographic, and biologic data. Although the Bureau's mission is primarily domestic in focus, many of the datasets we develop are global. These include the recently released Global Digital Elevation Model (DEM), a wide variety of remotely sensed products, data on world oil, gas, coal, and mineral deposits, biodiversity, and geologic hazards (earthquakes, volcanoes, and landslides).
Louisiana Geographic Information Center (LAGIC)
More Information
LAGIC was established by the Louisiana GIS Council (LGISC) and the Office of Information Technology to facilitate the distribution of geographic information, provide technical assistance, and support GIS data development among state, federal, and local government.
Louisiana Geographic Information Systems Council
More Information
The Louisiana Geographic Information Systems Council (LGISC) was created by the state Legislature in 1995 to: "eliminate duplication of effort and unnecessary redundancy in data collections and systems and to provide for integration of geographically-related data bases to facilitate the policy and planning purposes of the state of Louisiana."

National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
More Information
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is a Department of Defense combat support agency and a member of the national Intelligence Community (IC). NGA develops imagery and map-based intelligence solutions for U.S. national defense, homeland security and safety of navigation. NGA provides timely, relevant and accurate geospatial intelligence in support of national security objectives. The term "geospatial intelligence" means the exploitation and analysis of imagery and geospatial information to describe, assess and visually depict physical features and geographically referenced activities on the Earth. Geospatial intelligence consists of imagery, imagery intelligence and geospatial (e.g., mapping, charting and geodesy) information.
