Sugar at LSU
Cultivating a Sweeter Future

Celebrating the 200th anniversary of commercial sugar production in Louisiana (1995*), this online exhibition highlights the role and contributions of Louisiana State University in preserving the vital history of the sugar industry in our state. The extensive holdings in the LSU Libraries' Special Collections, supplemented by materials from the Libraries' general collection, the LSU Rural Life Museum, the Audubon Sugar Institute, the LSU Agricultural Center, and generous individuals, offer a chronological panorama of the artifacts and techniques of sugar production in Louisiana and the Lower Mississippi Valley.
