The Advanced Workshop Committee of the SAA Visual Materials Section is currently accepting ideas for workshops that the section members would find useful and that they would attend. What do we mean by Advanced Workshop? The description and charge of the committee, as found elsewhere on the VM section web site, is "the task of identifying areas of interest to VM membership and the larger archival world that exceed basic or introductory level information about visual materials, finding appropriate instructors for the topic, coordinating pre-conference and other workshops with SAA Education Office, and tracking the outcome of the offering." 3. Selecting Image Collections for Digitization. 4. Color Photographic Prints Workshop. 5. Nitrate Negatives. A "how-to" workshop focusing on care, handling, and storage of cellulose nitrate negative materials, both print and motion picture film stock. 6. Publish or Perish. A "how-to" workshop on getting published. This was also suggested as a breakfast or lunch get-together, so it may turn into something other than a workshop. 7. Cold Storage Solutions. For nitrate and color film and color prints, at least. 8. Recovering Images from Acetate Negatives that Have Undergone Vinegar Syndrome. 9. The Basics of Hybrid Reformatting. Combining traditional film duplication services for preservation, and digital imaging for access (not for preservation). 10. Cleaning and Rehousing Dry Plate Glass Negatives and Lantern Slides. Solutions made simple and cost effective, using volunteers to assist. 11. Under development
