SEARCHING FOR MUSIC USING THE NEW ONLINE CATALOG
How can I limit my search to retrieve only certain formats (score or sound recording) of a music title?
- Fill in the title field words from the title
- Designate the format in the "ITEM CATEGORY1" field.
For example, if you were looking for a full score of the Bach Coffee Cantata,
you could begin with this search:
We would get one "hit," you see it below, but we want a FULL SCORE
and not a vocal score. We see that the author, title, and uniform title are shown, and we see that the uniform title is Kaffee-Kantate.
So we search again using "kaffee"
(from the uniform title) and find a miniature
score of the full score:
SUMMARY:
- Set Item Category1 to the type of material you want
- Search using what you know
- If you don't find exactly what you need, search again possibly using information from the uniform title.
