DISPLAYS/EXHIBITS
"Special Delivery: A Showcase of LSU Libraries' Special Collections" was on display in Hill
Memorial Library on the LSU campus through April 3, 2006. It included materials from all
major collections, illustrating the great variety and range of documents, books, photographs,
and artwork that the LSU Libraries preserve and make available to the public for research.
On Sunday, April 2, the exhibition was open for a special open house as part of the
campus-wide "LSU GEMs Day."
Education Resources, 227 Middleton Library, participated in GEMS Day with an exhibition entitled "The Giverny Book
Award: Best Children's Science Picture Books." Books included in the exhibit won this highly respected award created in
1998 by Professor James Wandersee, LSU College of Education. Jean Cassels, New Orleans artist and illustrator of the book which
won the award in 2004, discussed the illustration process. Activity sheets and bookmarks were available for children,
and suggestions were given for teachers to use Giverny books in the classroom. The exhibit will be on display through May.
