Graduate Assistant for Digital Services, Special Collections
Description of Duties:
Graduate Assistants in the LSU Libraries receive instruction in the specific and sometimes unique duties relevant to their assigned departments. Duties vary depending upon the needs of the assigned department and will often involve routine but necessary library tasks. Graduate Assistants cannot assume that they will be instructed in every function of their assigned areas. Schedules are set at the beginning of each semester and depend upon the needs of the assigned department.
90% Reports to the Digital Services Librarian in LSU Libraries, Special Collections. Duties include: preparing and digitizing materials for display in the Louisiana Digital Library via CONTENTdm software; preparing and digitizing archival materials upon request for special collections staff; working with the Exhibitions Coordinator and Digital Services Librarian to create online exhibitions; assisting with the maintenance of all digitization lab scanners, digital cameras, and corresponding software and devices; assisting with collaborative project-based digital projects, including grant funded projects.
10% Performing public service duties in the Special Collections Reading Room and public services desk.
This position is a 12 month Graduate Assistant position and requires 20 hours per week.
