While certain types of servers bring you food and drink, a Web server delivers up Web pages. Any computer can be turned into a Web server by installing special software and connecting the machine to the Internet. Most people access the information stored on a Web server by connecting to the Internet through an Internet Service Provider (ISP) like America Online or a university. By getting a special account on a Web server through your ISP, you can publish your own Web pages for others to view. |
