Banned Books Week, an annual celebration of the freedom to read, will be observed September 30 - October 6, 2012 by libraries, bookstores, schools, and others concerned with freedom of speech. The theme for this year's observance is "Banned Books Week: 30 Years of Liberating Literature."
Banned Books Week commemorates one of the most basic freedoms in a democratic society -- freedom from censorship. Since its inception in 1982, it has reminded us that while not every book is intended for every reader, each of us has the right to decide for ourselves.
The exhibit in Education Resources will remain in place through October 31.
