DUTIES OF STANDING COMMITTEES
1. Courtesy Committee
The duties of the Courtesy Committee shall consist of the selection and purchase of gifts and remembrances according to the following terms:
- A library staff member having twenty, thirty, or forty years of service is recognized at the Summer Social or the Holiday Party, whichever is closest to his or her anniversary date.
- A gift to a retiring library staff member is purchased with money especially collected for that purpose. In recognition of a retirement, a library staff member is given a gift of lasting value worth a minimum of $75.00. Money will be especially collected for this purpose, and if the amount collected is less than $75.00, it will be supplemented from the Staff Association budget. If the amount collected is more, it will be added to the gift purchased for the retiree. The retiree will be asked what he or she would like for a gift.
- If a staff member dies, the task of determining an appropriate remembrance is left to the discretion of the Staff Association Executive Council.
- If a parent, child, spouse, or sibling of a member of the LSU Libraries Staff dies, the task of determining an appropriate remembrance (such as a donation to charity) is left to the discretion of the Courtesy Committee.
2. Entertainment Committee
The duties of the Entertainment Committee shall be to provide music as requested at library functions such as the Christmas Dinner, retirement receptions, or other appropriate occasions.
3. Fundraising Committee
The duties of the Fundraising Committee shall be to plan and supervise fundraising events to raise money for the LSU Libraries Staff Association Treasury.
4. Membership Committee
The duties of the Membership Committee shall be to acquaint new members of the staff with the purpose of the Association and to extend an invitation to all staff to become members or to renew membership.
5. Social Committee
The duties of the Social Committee shall be to plan and supervise the Libraries' social affairs.
