Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I include my citation?
- Yes. In order to request an item from another University you must provide verification through a bibliographic resource or index that can be cited. These indexes and databases can be accessed through the LSU Library Home Page for verification purposes if you don't have the original source of a reference.

What is Copyright?
- How does it affect my request? Copyright is that protection afforded to the writer or publisher to exclusive rights to reproduce, publish, and sell the material. We must comply with these Copyright Laws when we request a photocopy from a University or Document Delivery Service. There is often a charge for these requests; LSU subsidizes $40.00 of this fee per article request for faculty, graduate students, and research associates. Should the charge exceed $40.00, you will be asked to pay the difference. Before the request is processed, you will be asked if you are willing to accept the charges, or you may indicate on your request that you will accept charges.
For further explanation see Journal Article Requests.

How do I know my material has arrived?
- Patrons are notified of the arrival of their material normally through the mail (campus or public) by the "WHITE CARDS" which will indicate form of material (Book, Photocopy, or Microfilm) and its individual Interlibrary Lending Number (IL#). We will also send notification via E-MAIL or PHONE (Must have answering machine or service) if specifically asked for on request.
