Library's Collection Development Objectives

The library seeks to provide materials to support programs in biological, cognition, clinical, developmental, school, and industrial psychology. Psychology offers a variety of practicums and research opportunities as part of the curriculum.

Curriculum Program Description

The Department of Psychology is one of 18 teaching divisions in the College of Arts and Sciences. There are 26 faculty members, two adjunct professors, two instructors, and two professors emeritus in the department. Listed below are the number of degrees awarded to students in Psychology for the past five years.

For the Department of Psychology the library is attempting to build a research collection (level 4). (See classed analysis for detailed statement.)

Electronic Resources: Databases, Electronic Books and Journals, CD-ROMS, etc.

LSU Libraries will purchase electronic titles on a case by case basis. The request for electronic titles may be initiated by the liaison and/or a member of the department. Decisions will be influenced by the titles that will benefit the greatest number of students, faculty and staff at the best possible price. Purchase of remotely accessed texts must follow the policy and procedures set forth in Procedures for Acquiring and Processing Electronic Resources.
