Collection Development Policy Statement

Library's Collection Development Objectives

Support faculty and student research and the curriculum through the doctoral degree level in the discipline of Entomology, including genetics, insect migration, physiology and biochemistry, toxicology, behavior, biological control, systematics, medical and veterinary entomology, urban, horticultural, and forest entomology, plant resistance to insects, and field crops (soybeans, sugarcane, cotton, grains, forages, rice, and pastures); and support research projects and programs conducted at the affiliated research stations of the LSU Agricultural Center..

Curriculum Program Descriptions

The Department of Entomology is part of the College of Agriculture. There are 21 faculty members in the department, all with Ph.D. degrees, including three USDA research entomologists. Faculty members hold joint appointments with the University and the LSU Agricultural Center. Degree programs leading to the M.S. and Ph.D. are offered, with areas of study in pest management, urban entomology, apiculture, forest entomology, horticultural entomology, forensic entomology, medical/veterinary entomology, biological control, and insect behavior. Undergraduate students may pursue a minor in Entomology. Listed below are the number of degrees awarded to students in Entomology for the past five years:
