Collection Development Policy Statement
Library's Collection Development Objectives
Support faculty and student research and the curriculum through the doctoral degree level in the discipline of Animal Science, including breeding and genetics, growth and metabolic physiology, meat science and technology, ruminant and nonruminant nutrition, and reproductive physiology and biotechnology, with an emphasis on beef cattle, swine, sheep, and horses; and support research projects and programs conducted at the affiliated research stations of the LSU Agricultural Center, including the Central Research Station in Baton Rouge.
Curriculum Program Descriptions
The Department of Animal Science is part of the College of Agriculture. There are 18 faculty members in the department, including 16 faculty with Ph.D. degrees. Most of the faculty have dual appointments with the LSU Agricultural Center. Undergraduate students participate in an interdepartmental Animal, Dairy, and Poultry (A-D-P) Sciences curriculum.
