PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL CRITERIA FOR SELECTORS / LIAISONS
Approved by Dean's Council March 1st, 2000

1.     Provides outreach and engages in other activities that will enhance the research and teaching needs of the faculty, students, and staff in assigned subject areas. This includes, but is not limited to: consulting with the Department Chairs; working with the faculty, staff, and graduate students; providing course related instruction; creating and maintaining Web-based guides (see LPM 25) and printed user guides; communicating library news; and staying abreast of the research interests of the faculty, staff, and graduate students.
2.     Continually determines the strengths and weaknesses of the collection. This includes, but is not limited to: reviewing and weeding the assigned Library of Congress Classification ranges in Reference and the general stacks; and reviewing and updating, if necessary, the approval plan profile and collection development policies.
3.     Meets deadlines and effectively expends funds in the purchase of library materials through the approval plan, slip and firm orders. Performs timely reviews of books received through the approval plan and slip/firm orders; gifts; and unsolicited materials. Initials and dates appropriate sign-in forms.
4.     Manages appropriated funds in a prudent manner. Liaison expends funds according to the guidelines established by Collection Services.
5.     Recommends the addition of print resources for the general and Reference collections and electronic resources, including electronic serials, to meet the needs of the library's user community. This includes, but is not limited to, identifying the availability of electronic journals for titles subscribed by the library.
6.     Responsible management of serial subscriptions in all formats, including the addition of new titles and the cancellation of titles no longer needed. Utilizes available information sources (e.g. Uncover request statistics) in the decision-making process. Works with the assigned faculty in accomplishing these tasks.
7.     Attends and participates in conferences, group meetings, training sessions, and shares information obtained with other staff.
8.     Undertakes special projects and new initiatives in the assigned subject areas.
9.     Completes collection development assignments effectively and in a timely manner.
