Accounting and Tax Database
Provides comprehensive indexing and informative abstracts of articles in prominent accounting, taxation, and financial management publications from the United States and other countries. Searches in this database will be conducted by a librarian or library staff at no charge to the patron. A librarian must conduct this search. Only available in the library.
BNA Tax Management Library
Access to portfolios in the areas of U.S. Income; Estates, Gifts, and Trusts; and Foreign Income. Sample portfolio titles include: Transfers to Controlled Corporations, Consolidated Returns, Limited Liability Companies, and International Pension Plann. Requires password. Only available at the library.
Business Source Complete (EBSCO)
Provides full text for nearly 3,300 scholarly business journals, including full text for more than 1000 peer-reviewed business publications. Coverage includes virtually all subject areas related to business. This database provides full text (PDF) for more than 300 of the top scholarly journals dating as far back as 1922. Remote access available.
CCH Tax Research
This service provides information on federal tax, state tax, business entity planning, financial and estate planning, securities, federal banking law, capital changes, documents in the federal tax library, and government contracts from 1971 to the present. Available on and off-campus.
COMPUSTAT (CD-ROM)
COMPUSTAT contains fundamental financial, statistical, and market data for corporations listed on the New York Stock Exchange, American StockExchange, National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations, and Over-the-Counter markets. Locate annual income statement data, quarterly data, financial ratios, number of employees, business segments, geographic areas, industry composites, aggregates, and indexes. Ask for the CD-ROM MRDF 363 at the reference desk. Only available in the library.
Experian Business Credit Profiles
Contains the payment history, bankruptcy, tax and legal history, UCC filings, and banking relationships, as well as key facts such as Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes, sales ranges, and more for over 8,000,000 companies. Full audited financials are available for all publicly held companies. Searches in this database will be conducted by a librarian or library staff at no charge to the patron. A librarian must conduct this search. Only available in the library.
JSTOR
JSTOR consists of a reliable and comprehensive archive of important scholarly journal literature. JSTOR houses over 40 electronic copies of economics and finance journals that date from the very fuirst issue up until, in most cases, a few years ago. Available on and off-campus.
Lexis Nexis Academic
(Dates vary) Offers full-text online news, business, legal, legislative, and regulatory information, updated daily. Detailed company information including annual reports are also available. Available on and off-campus.
RIA: Research Institute of America Tax Service
The RIA Tax Service contains databases which cover the following broad topics Federal Tax Issues, State Tax Issues, and International Tax Issues. Password required. If you are an LSU student, faculty, or staff member obtain your password here. You must register while on campus. Once registered, off campus is available.

GAO Report: Accounting Profession-Major Issues: Progress and Concerns
The GAO's "objectives were to identify (1) recommendations made from 1972 through 1995 to improve accounting and auditing standards and the performance of independent audits under the federal securities laws and the actions taken on those recommendations and (2) any unresolved issues to determine their impact on the performance of independent audits, effective accounting and auditing standards setting, and efforts to expand the scope of business reporting and audit services." On the GAO page, move to the report number field. Enter "aimd-96-98" for the full-text report and "aimd-96-98a" for the appendixes to the report. Be sure to use the quotation marks. Documents are available in ASCII or .PDF formats.
